NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The Liberty Board of Selectmen have received a petition to initiate the process to withdraw from RSU#3 in accordance with Maine Revised Statutes, Title 20-A: Education §1466 Withdrawal of a single municipality from a regional school unit. The municipal officers shall call and hold a vote on whether or not to officially start the withdrawal process. There will be a public hearing on this petition article before it goes up to vote on November 7, 2023.

The article will read as follows:

“Do you favor filing a petition for withdrawal with the board of directors of Regional School Unit #3 and with the Commissioner of Education, authorizing the withdrawal committee to expend $ 800,000 and authorizing the Selectboard to issue notes in the name of the Town of Liberty or otherwise pledge the credit of the Town of Liberty in an amount not to exceed $ 800,000 for this purpose? Yes No”
